Education should be a co-adventure with children...
A big hello from Miss Moss!
Welcome to Palmarsh Primary School. We are so excited that you have chosen our school for your child. This page on our website will house useful information, helping you to get an insight into our fantastic school.
At Palmarsh, we are passionate about education being an adventure not a pre-drawn route for children. Children experience something special within our setting as they are given the time and space to reveal their own understanding and magic.
Due to COVID - 19, our usual home visits will be tricky so we are offering a Zoom Meeting for you to meet with me and talk in a relaxed way and ask any questions about your child starting school. Hopefully this will enable you to share any information about your child and I can provide as much information as possible about our future adventures together at Palmarsh! Click on the link below to book an appointment:
Please check back to this page as we will be regularly updating it with new information.
If you have any questions, please contact us using the 'contact' tab on the school website.
Let the adventures begin!
SCHOOL DINNERS - CLUBS - TRIPS - BOOKED THROUGH PARENT PAY
ParentPay is a secure online payment system that Palmarsh Primary School use to collect money, communicate with you about upcoming events and send out our weekly newsletters. All of this is sent straight to your inbox.
In an attempt to remove cash and cheques from the school office, we are asking all parents to use this e-payment method to pay the school. You will have a secure online account, activated using a unique set of activation codes (activation codes will be sent by post a week prior to starting school).
Free meals are automatically available to all Key Stage 1 (reception, year 1 and year 2) children under the Universal Infant School Meals Scheme.
Even though you are entitled to free school meals, we encourage you to log in and let us know whether your child would like a school lunch, using the system.
All children are required to wear school uniform. Sweatshirts, cardigans and book bags can be purchased from the office.
White Polo Shirt
Purple Palmarsh Sweatshirt / Cardigan
Grey/Black Trousers / Shorts or
Grey/Black Skirt / Pinafore
Tights and socks must be in plain white, black, grey
Black shoes or plain black trainers (no other colours, flashing lights, logos or wheels).
All shoes should have a low heel.
Laces should be plain black.
PE - White T-Shirt
Black Shorts / Joggers
Trainers or Plimsolls.
Please note PE lessons will not commence officially until January 2021.
All children do need a waterproof coat and wellies at school every day (unless we are having a heatwave of course). We will go outside in the morning, at lunchtime and during the afternoon, in all weathers.
If they have a pair of waterproof trousers, then please send them in for them to wear. If not, we do have waterproof suits available. A pair of their own wellies and waterproof trousers can stay in school all year. This means they can keep dry whenever they wish to go outside.
Please pack a spare pair of knickers, socks or tights or leggings just in case of any accidents! We do have spare clothes but we often find children prefer to wear their own.
Please label all your child’s clothes, PE kit, coat, hat, gloves, etc. Please be aware that if you have written their name in with pen, it might wash off after a few washes! We do try our best to find all lost items.
Children can bring into school their own water bottle to drink from. Please make sure the bottle is named. Children should also bring their book bag into school every day.
Children will be given a home reader book when they are ready. This could be at any time during the school year. We will not give them books before they can blend together all letters confidently. Once your child knows all the sounds that single letters make you can help them at home by writing simple three letter words and practise blending the sounds together to read the word e.g. cat, dog, bin, pin, peg, etc.
In Early Years we plan our topics every week dependent upon the time of the year or the interests of the children.
